My name is Jennifer Murphy, and I am a foodie.

Food has always been a big part of my life.  I guess it has to be since everyone has to eat, but what I’m trying to say is that I love food!  My mother and grandmother are accomplished Southern cooks, and I grew up being used to eating really tasty food.  I’m glad to say that I’ve followed in their footsteps and become quite the cook myself.  Though I tend to stay away from fatty Southern food most of the time, I definitely have the cooking bug and love to try new foods whenever I can!

In addition to growing up in a world of food (and if you think I’m kidding, try going to a southern family reunion or Baptist potluck lunch one time), I started working in restaurants in high school and continued through college.  After obtaining a degree in Interior Design, I started working as a Foodservice Consultant in Charlotte, NC.  For those who have no idea what that means, I design layouts and specify equipment for commercial kitchens and serving areas.  I still live in Charlotte with my husband, Kyle, who certainly knows his way around the kitchen and our 2-year-old daughter, Lilah, who is already more than willing to help us cook.

I’m always on the lookout for exciting revolutions in food, and I think The Modernist Cuisine at Home is a great one!  Please read on as I delve into the modernist methods and recipes!

Bon appetit!
